Cape Coral Animal Shelter Receives FAPPA Cooperative Team Achievement Award

Cape Coral Animal Shelter & Veterinary Clinic (CCAS) is honored to have received the Florida Animal Protection & Advocacy Association (FAPPA) Cooperative Team Achievement Award in recognition of a groundbreaking partnership with the Seminole Tribe of Florida and a dedicated coalition of veterinary and animal welfare organizations.

This award recognizes a first-of-its-kind collaboration that brings spay and neuter, vaccination, and microchipping clinics directly to Seminole reservations, helping ensure that animals and families in underserved communities have access to essential veterinary care.

Working together with Seminole Tribe Animal Services, Southwest Florida Spay Neuter Services, Cape Coral Pet Vet, Slomba Shelter Solutions, Dr. Ernie Blum, and SNIP Collier, the initiative has already made a meaningful impact. Together, the coalition has:

-Spayed or neutered more than 100 dogs and cats
-Vaccinated hundreds of animals
-Provided compassionate care and education to families across multiple Seminole reservations
-Established the foundation for year-round veterinary clinics across all five Seminole communities

This effort represents far more than veterinary services. It is built on trust, cultural respect, and partnership. By working closely with Seminole Animal Control Officers and community leaders, the coalition has helped reduce pet overpopulation, strengthen the human-animal bond, and create a sustainable model for community-based animal welfare.

Liz McCauley, Executive Director of Cape Coral Animal Shelter, shared:

“This recognition belongs to every partner who showed up with open hearts and a shared commitment to serve. Our work with the Seminole Tribe is built on trust, respect, and collaboration. Together we have proven that when communities and organizations unite with compassion and purpose, we can create lasting change for animals and the people who love them.”

Cape Coral Animal Shelter is deeply grateful to its partners and to the Seminole Tribe for the opportunity to work together on this important initiative. This award highlights what is possible when leadership, expertise, and compassion come together to serve both people and animals.
