Lost, stray or abandoned animals

If You Have Found a Lost, Stray or Abandoned Animal:

Per Lee County Statute, all lost/stray/abandoned animals must be taken to Lee County Domestic Animal Services. By law, we are unable to accept these animals prior to their surrender to LCDAS.

LCDAS is an outstanding organization and will always do what is in the best interest of lost/stray/abandoned animals. They will (a) reunite lost animals with their owner if it is in the animal’s best interest, (b) ensure animals are being returned to safe and sanitary conditions, (c) if unclaimed, make sure they are medically/behaviorally safe to be put up for adoption or sent to other rescues/shelters.

As the sole provider of animal control in Lee County, we work closely with LCDAS, appreciate their efforts, and help by pulling animals from their facility whenever possible.

If you have found a stray or lost animal, or have possession of an abandoned animal, please contact Lee County Domestic Animal Services at 239-533-7387.
